The scuttlebutt behind this series of photos is that the plane was on an ILS approach on a dark night somewhere in Africa. The co-pilot noticed that the captain was flying below the glideslope but either did not say anything or was blown off. Everyone was very surprised when the plane came to a sudden stop. The runway is just out of view a couple of hundred yards from shore. Amazing.
